Clinical Supervision for Qualifying and Registered Psychotherapists, Interns
At Valley Connections Counselling we provide Clinical Supervision to mental health professionals and counselling/psychotherapy students completing internship placements.
Our Clinical Supervision is provided by two of our staff who are recognized as supervisors with the CRPO:
- Amanda Youssef, MEd, RP, CCC, our Executive Director, who has been practicing as a Registered Psychotherapist since 2010 and has been a Clinical Supervisor for Interns, Registered Psychotherapists, MSW's, CYW's, and other Mental Health professionals since 2017.
- Kiara Panetta, MA, RP, our Intern Supervisor, who has been practicing as a Registered Psychotherapist since 2017 after completing her internship at Valley Connections Counselling. Kiara is now Valley's primary Intern supervisor and also provides individual, dyadic, and group supervision to Registered Psychotherapists.
The College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) requires that Qualifying Psychotherapists obtain a minimum of 1 hour of clinical supervision for every 4 to 5 hours of direct client contact hours. Once registered with the CRPO as a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), the CRPO requires that RP's obtain 1 hour of clinical supervision for every 10 direct client contact hours until 1000 client contact hours have been reached. At least 50% of these hours must be obtained in individual or dyadic format.
"Registered Psychotherapists will not be permitted to practice independently, i.e. without clinical supervision, until they have completed 1000 directclient contact hours and 150 hours of clinical supervision over the course of their professional careers. This limitation applies to all Members and will remain in effect until the Member satisfies the College that s/he has completed the required hours....Applicants applying through other registration routes must complete at least 50 per cent of their clinical supervision hours in an individual or dyadic format. Clinical Consultation for RP's, MSW's and other Mental Health Care Professionals
See below for available group dates and times for Spring 2024.
Groups are open to Mental Health professionals and to practicum students practicing in Canada. Our groups are run by our Executive Director and Registered Psychotherapist, Amanda Youssef and by our Intern/Clinical Supervisor and Registered Psychotherapist, Kiara Panetta.
If you are interested in attending a group, please contact our admin team at admin@valleyconnectionscounselling.ca for more information and to register. You will need to have access to a high-speed internet connection in order to participate in these sessions using Zoom.
Clinical Case Consultation is available for those who have met the CRPO's requirements for supervision (or other applicable college).
